The arena floor in this covered arena had packed down hard from years of use. A hard, slick surface with a low spot in the center is the standard sign that footing has reached the end of its life, and horses working on it come off sore.
The work
What We Did
We graded the existing floor level with a track dozer, taking out the low spot so the base was flat before any new material went down. The old floor was not removed; it was graded and used as the base.
Sandy select fill was delivered by dump truck into the covered arena and spread across the floor with the dozer, blended into the base in rows and left as a new soft footing.
