We build rock roads, ranch roads and private access roads for acreage around McKinney and throughout North Texas. New roads are graded, crowned and compacted with a solid base so they can handle trucks, trailers and equipment without turning into a rutted mess after heavy rain.
Depending on the property, we use gravel or flex base and install culverts where the road crosses a ditch or drainage area. We build access roads to homesites, barns, horse arenas, shops and back pastures, and rebuild existing ranch roads when necessary.
Grading
Road Grading

If the road has lost material, we can add gravel or flex base and compact the surface. Roads with deeper damage may need the base reworked before grading.

Rock Road Questions
What is a rock road?
A private road built like a county road: a graded, crowned base with culverts and drainage, and a compacted crushed rock surface on top. Ranch roads, subdivision roads and access roads to barns and arenas are all built this way.
How is a rock road different from a gravel driveway?
Length and load, mostly. A rock road carries trucks, trailers and equipment over a longer run, so the base, the crown and the drainage matter even more. The construction is the same trade.
Can you fix a gravel road that keeps washing out?
Yes. The failed section is dug out, the drainage problem that caused it is fixed, usually with a culvert or a ditch, and the road is rebuilt through that stretch.
How often should a rock road be graded?
It depends on traffic and weather. Many owners have their road graded once or twice a year, before ruts reach the base. A road that has been neglected may need the base reworked first.
Can you chip seal a rock road?
Yes, once the base is built and compacted properly. Chip seal gives a paved finish with no dust or loose rock and much less maintenance than gravel.
Do you build shared roads for several properties?
