Parking Lot Grading in Aubrey, TX: Flex Base Parking and Walkway Beside a Horse Arena

The Job

The parking area next to this arena had to carry tractors, trucks and trailers in wet weather without turning to mud, and it had to meet the new arena footing at a clean edge so equipment could sit on a hard surface without compacting the arena floor. It was one part of a four day arena refurbishment on the same property.

What We Did

We graded the parking area so water drains away from the building instead of standing on it, then built the parking lot and walkway up with flex base, a crushed limestone with fines that locks together when compacted.

The flex base was compacted into a solid surface, and the walkway was finished with a clean edge where it meets the new select fill arena footing.

The Result

A compacted rock parking lot and walkway that handles tractors, trucks and trailers without rutting or turning to mud, draining away from the barn and transitioning directly into the arena footing. Completed as part of the four day arena project.
