Rock excavation in Fairview, TX for a homeowner whose new foundation sat too close to a limestone wall. Using an excavator with a rock bucket, we dug back roughly 15 tons of limestone in a day and a half to make room for the front walkway.

The Job
A limestone wall sat too close to the corner of a new house in Fairview and left no room for the front walkway. It was solid rock, not dirt, so it was not a job for a standard bucket. The limestone had to be broken out in place and removed without disturbing the formed foundation beside it.
The work
What We Did
We fitted an excavator with a rock bucket, whose aggressive teeth scratch into the limestone until it breaks loose in pieces, and worked back along the wall beside the foundation.
About 10 cubic yards of limestone came out, roughly 15 tons, in a day and a half. The boulders and broken rock were piled on the property, and the owner kept them for landscaping.

The Result
Room for the front walkway beside the foundation, the limestone wall cut back and a pile of boulders the owner chose to keep for decorative placement around the property.
